Marina Aleksandrova, born Pupenina on August 29, 1982, in Kiskunmajsa, Hungary, grew up in various Russian cities including St. Petersburg. She studied music, graduating with a harp degree, and completed the Shchukin Theater School in 2003. Her acting breakthrough occurred with the TV series Poor Nastya (2003), followed by roles in Azazel, Mosgaz, and Catherine. Between 2006 and 2011, she was part of the Sovremennik Theater and later worked at the Theater of Film Actors.
From 2008 to 2010, she was married to Ivan Stebunov, and since 2012, to director Andrei Boltenko, with whom she has two children.
